UPDATE: Elijah Rankin has been apprehended.

On December 16 at 8:03 p.m., deputies responded to Hot Springs Way for a report of a theft. The victim reported the suspect, Elijah Rankin, 37, of no fixed address, had stolen her vehicle and cellphone. It was learned Rankin went to the victim’s home and confronted her at her front door. The victim demanded Rankin leave and he refused. The victim then pulled out her cellphone to call 911 and Rankin grabbed the phone from her hands. He also stole the victim’s car keys from her pocket and drove off in her vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered by deputies.

Elijah Rankin is wanted for grand larceny, unauthorized use of vehicle, and preventing a 911 call. Anyone with information on Rankin’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 658-4400. Tips can also be submitted by texting STAFFORD + your tip to 274-637.
