ARREST REPORTED
Stafford, Va. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of Michael Bryan Sager, age 29, of 126 Woodland Drive, Stafford. Sager has been charged with 1 Count of Possession With Intent to Distribute, 1 Count of Obstruction of Justice, 1 Count of Possession of Marijuana and numerous traffic violations. Sager has been placed in the Rappahannock Region Jail under a $2,500.00 bond.
Today, Friday, May 04, 2012, at approximately 9:35, Sgt. Rebecca Losiewski of the Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop in the area of Cambridge Street and the Falmouth Bridge on Michael Bryan Sager for defective equipment and having his tag in the front window. Sgt. Losiewski was in the process of explaining the citations when Sager bolted from his truck and took off running with Sgt. Losiewski in pursuit. Within moments additional units arrived on scene and a K-9 unit joined in the search. Sager ran through the woods and eventually waded across the Rappahannock River near Falmouth Beach. Units from Stafford County Sheriff's Office, joined by officers from the Fredericksburg Police Department searched the Fredericksburg side of the river but Sager was not found. At 12:45 PM Michael Sager turned himself in to the authorities at the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
During Stager's wade across the Rappahannock, he hid a backpack he was carrying on a little island in the river. Stafford deputies were able to find the backpack and discovered numerous baggies filled with marijuana.
