After using fake money, a 28-year-old Stafford man attempted to flee from both deputies and Sheehy staff. On April 23rd, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Sergeant A.T. Leckemby, Deputy S.A. Edwards, and Deputy B.E. Vaughn responded to Panera Bread, located at 1005 Stafford Market Place, for a fraud. Staff advised a male suspect attempted to pay with a counterfeit $50 bill. When deputies arrived, they observed a male matching the description of the suspect not far from the home of the bread bowl. As soon as deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect, he took off on foot. The suspect fled across Garrisonville Road and into the Sheehy Toyota parking lot with deputies close behind. While running between the vehicles, a Sheehy staff member appeared out of nowhere and tackled the suspect. Deputies took over from there and detained the suspect. The suspect was identified as Shane Williams. Williams was found in possession of not only a fake identification, but two $50 bills. The bills were immediately identified as fake considering their texture was that of common printer paper and both bills had the same serial number. When deputies seized the bill from Panera Bread it too had the same serial number. Williams was charged with possession of forged currency, use of forged currency, possession of a fictitious identification, and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Great work to deputies, and the Sheehy staff member, for their quick actions. |
