A 39-year-old Stafford woman collided with a curb while dropping off a student in an intoxicated state.

On April 17th, at approximately 8:10 a.m., Deputy C.A. Sharp responded to Falmouth Elementary School, located at 1000 Forbes Street, for an auto accident. It was advised a Ford struck a curb during morning arrival. The driver did remain on scene.

Deputy Sharp made contact with the driver. The driver advised she was “tired” while dropping off a student, resulting in the crash. Despite her blaming the crash on her tired state, Deputy Sharp noticed she had signs of impairment, including pinpoint pupils.

After conducting field sobriety tests, the driver was detained. During an inventory search of her vehicle, loose pills were located in a plastic bag. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, child neglect, and possession of controlled substances. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

This Easter weekend we encourage all drivers to drive sober or get pulled over.
