An intoxicated 38-year-old man was located by deputies on his quest to purchase narcotics.

On April 7th at approximately 9:51 a.m. Deputy R.L. Hubbard and Deputy R.T. Kulbeth responded to the area of Richmond Highway and Hospital Center Boulevard for a disturbance. Hospital staff advised a male, who was believed to be under the influence of narcotics, had just eloped from the hospital. Deputies Hubbard and Kulbeth were nearby and began their search for the intoxicated suspect.

Deputies would locate the suspect in the area of Richmond Highway and Courthouse Road, where they made contact with him. The suspect displayed several signs of being under the influence. During their interaction, the suspect would request items for “smoking purposes” and even asked for deputies’ assistance in purchasing drug paraphernalia. Deputies would decline.

During their interaction, the suspect would attempt to flee on foot. His plan would flop bigger than the live-action Snow White movie as he only made it approximately five feet before he was apprehended. The suspect was charged with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $500 secured bond.
