An armed robbery that occurred earlier this month has been solved and the suspect is behind bars due to the hard-working detectives of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 2nd at approximately 4:25 a.m. deputies responded to 7-Eleven, located at 1 Commerce Parkway, for a report of an armed robbery. It was advised a male suspect brandished a firearm and took cash from the register. Deputies were quickly on scene and detectives within the Violent Crimes Unit were notified.

It was discovered a male entered the business at 4:23 a.m. The suspect would demand staff to “give me the money” while displaying a handgun. Staff would comply with his demands and the suspect stuffed the cash into his bag. The suspect would quickly flee the scene afterwards. The robbery was captured on business cameras, giving detectives a good description of the suspect.

Thanks to witness statements and business cameras, a vehicle of interest was identified. With that, the suspect was identified as Kendall Woods, 32, of Stafford. Detectives discovered he was currently in Charlottesville. On January 10th, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit traveled to Charlottesville and worked in conjunction with detectives from the Charlottesville Police Department. Together, they were able to locate Woods and the vehicle used in the robbery. Woods was taken into custody without incident.

Woods was charged with armed robbery and is currently being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Amazing work to not only detectives for identifying the suspect, but to the deputies who first responded to the robbery and preserved the scene. We’d like to thank the Charlottesville Police Department and the Fredericksburg Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
