A call that started at Rappahannock Regional Jail would also end at Rappahannock Regional Jail after a 44-year-old man had a bit too much fun on his cellular device. On January 5th at approximately 10:05 p.m. R.T. Philippsen responded to Rappahannock Regional Jail, located at 1745 Richmond Highway, for a startling call. The caller advised someone was dead in front of the jail. They would further advise they heard a gunshot and that “there was blood” all over the ground. The caller would hang up shortly after that. Moments after the call, Deputy Philippsen was on scene and quickly determined the claims were unfounded. He would also make contact with a jail officer who was having phone related problems. The jail officer advised a male was calling him to curse him out and call him vulgar names. The phone number from the original call and the jail officer’s report were one in the same. With this new-found connection, Deputy Philippsen went through booking cards from Rappahannock Regional Jail and connected the number to a suspect who was recently arrested. Deputies would locate the suspect at Super 8, located at 25 Wicomico Drive, and take him into custody. The suspect would end up back at Rappahannock Regional Jail, this time charged with using obscene language over the phone and making a false police report. He was held without bond. |
