While the alcohol might be Rich & Rare, the DUI wasn’t. A 64-year-old Stafford man was arrested after deputies were flagged down by a concerned citizen. On December 10th at approximately 10:30 a.m. Deputy M.N. Sayegh was traveling in the area of Richmond Highway and Coal Landing Drive. While doing so, she was flagged down by a citizen. The vigilant citizen advised a maroon truck traveling Northbound was driving all over the place. One of those places was the median as well. With this information, Deputy Sayegh traveled up North in hopes of locating the truck. It wouldn’t take long before she did. In the area of Foreston Woods Drive, Deputy Sayegh observed the described truck pulled entirely up on the curb. To make the odd park job worse, Deputy Sayegh observed the driver slumped over the wheel. Deputies positioned their vehicles in front and behind the truck as the driver continued his slumber in case he would attempt to make a quick getaway. When the driver finally woke up, deputies noticed signs of intoxication, including the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The driver admitted to not only drinking while at home, but also driving to the local liquor store to purchase more alcohol and drinking from that bottle. Within the vehicle an open bottle of Rich & Rare was located. The driver was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content above .2, as well as, drinking while driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. |
