A 40-year-old Winchester man is behind bars after a pursuit in Stafford County, Prince William County, and Quantico Marine Corps Base.

On November 30th, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Deputy K.W. Suter was traveling southbound on Richmond Highway in the area of the northbound I-95 ramp. While doing so, Deputy Suter observed a stolen vehicle. Deputy Suter would attempt a traffic stop when the Ford made a quick U-turn and started heading northbound on Richmond Highway.

As the pursuit continued past Telegraph Road, the Ford continued to accelerate, passed vehicles over the solid yellow line, and swerved across the roadway. Deputy Suter stayed closely behind the vehicle as it entered Prince William County. While in Prince William County, Deputy Suter made intentional vehicle contact with the suspect vehicle. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail. With the vehicle now disabled, the driver jumped out and fled on foot. Additional units responded in an attempt to locate the driver. While the driver was not located, a tipster provided information that the suspect jumped the fence to the base.

The morning of December 1st, deputies would be contacted by Marine Corps Police on Quantico. They advised they located the suspect after a brief foot pursuit. Deputy Suter made contact with the suspect who provided a false identification. Eventually the suspect’s real identity was discovered to be Richard Wolfe. Wolfe was wanted for two counts of a probation violation.

Wolfe was charged with possession of stolen property, felony eluding, driving while revoked, the traffic offense, providing a false identification to law enforcement, and served on his outstanding warrants. While Wolfe was released on summons for his crimes in Quantico and additional charges are pending from Prince William, he was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond for his Stafford offenses.
