A 42-year-old Stafford woman attempted to blame her third DUI incident on DayQuil last week during a traffic stop.

On November 26th, shortly after midnight, Deputy N.J. Amato was traveling in the area of Cambridge Street and Butler Road. While traveling northbound on Cambridge Street, the Audi in front of him was accelerating pretty rapidly. After realizing there was a deputy behind her, the driver abruptly hit the breaks and began traveling under the speed limit. Deputy Amato would continue to witness the driver’s erratic speeds and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Manning Drive.

Deputy Amato made contact with the driver and noticed signs of intoxication, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. Despite the signs of alcohol consumption, the driver only admitted to consuming DayQuil. Her blood alcohol content would advise otherwise. The driver was also discovered to have two previous DUI’s and a revoked license.

The driver, Melissa Miller, was charged with driving under the influence third offense within ten years, and driving after forfeiture of her license. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
