A 46-year-old Florida man learned that driving under the influence not only affects himself, but those around him.

On November 25th at approximately 1:08 a.m., Deputy C.A. Osborne responded to Iron Master Drive for an auto accident. It was advised three vehicles were involved. Deputy Osborne arrived at the crash site and was able to quickly determine what occurred.

It was discovered a Nissan was traveling along Iron Master Drive when it struck a parked Jeep head on. Due to the force of that crash, it created a domino effect causing the Jeep to strike a parked Subaru. Luckily, the Jeep and Subaru were unoccupied and the Nissan driver was not injured.

The at fault driver had signs of intoxication, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The driver admitted to not only consuming “two glasses” of whiskey prior to driving, but he further advised he was on his phone at the time of the crash. The driver was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, as well as, using a handheld device while driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

With the Thanksgiving break right around the corner, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone the importance of driving sober. If you plan to consume alcohol, plan to have a way home. Rideshare apps or a designated driver are always a reliable option.
