A 30-year-old man, wanted by the US Marshals, was located and arrested after trying to find the best place to purchase cocaine.

On November 13th at approximately 9:14 a.m. First Sergeant W.T. Johnson and Deputy N.D. Fonseca responded to the Holiday Inn, located at 20 Sanford Drive, for a disturbance. Staff advised a guest, not only was having trouble paying for a room, but also inquired “where one could get cocaine?” For obvious reasons, deputies responded to meet the suspect.

The suspect would become argumentative with deputies upon their arrival. He would also provide a false identity. His false ID would not work due to the person he was pretending to be did not have the rather noticeable face tattoos that the suspect before them had. The suspect was then detained and his real identity was uncovered. The suspect was identified as Ahmaud Brown of Portsmouth. Brown not only had a capias out of Portsmouth for child neglect, but he was wanted by the US Marshals.

During Brown’s free ride to a new room, this one at Rappahannock Regional Jail, he discarded a suspected controlled substance in the backseat of Deputy Fonseca’s cruiser. Brown was charged with possession of controlled substances and providing a false identity to law enforcement. He was additionally served on his outstanding warrants. Brown was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond and is awaiting to be picked up by the US Marshals.
