A wanted 24-year-old Woodbridge woman and a wanted 27-year-old Fredericksburg man were both detained after a simple traffic stop.

On October 25th at approximately 10:05 p.m. Deputy S.T. Myers was traveling Southbound on Warrenton Road in the area of Sanford Drive. While doing so, he observed a Jeep make a reckless lane change causing the vehicle in that lane to take evasive action to avoid a crash. Due to this, Deputy Myers conducted a traffic stop at the entrance of the Comfort Suites.

As Deputy Myers approached the vehicle on foot, a male passenger would hop out and begin to walk away. When Deputy Myers informed him that was not alright and he needed to stay on scene, the passenger picked up the pace and fled on foot. Deputy Myers would stay with the driver and broadcast the passenger’s description to nearby deputies. Deputy Myers’s decision to stay with the driver was correct for she was discovered to wanted.

As deputies began flooding the area, First Sergeant D.W. Fetterolf would observe a male who matched the description of the suspect near Black Rifle Coffee. First Sergeant Fetterolf would attempt to make contact with the male; however, the male had different plans and continued to walk away. Due to him not complying, First Sergeant Fetterolf would attempt to detain him. The male would resist and pull away with such force that he knocked himself to the ground. He would immediately surrender.

The male would provide a false identification to deputies. When it was discovered to be false, he would provide yet another false identification. When that was discovered to be false, deputies did their own research into his identity. Luckily, the suspect had a unique neck tattoo that deputies used to identify him as Tahj Ford. Ford was wanted out of three different jurisdictions, was found to be intoxicated, and in possession of three different suspected controlled substances.

Ford was charged with two counts of second offense identity theft, two counts of providing false identity to law enforcement, three counts of possession of controlled substance, eluding law enforcement, obstruction of justice, public intoxication, and unlawful name change. He was also served on his numerous outstanding warrants and held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail. The driver, Michaele Simms, was also served on her outstanding warrants and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
