With the assistance of a Park Police Officer, a 55-year-old drunk driver was taken off the roadway Sunday afternoon.

On September 15th at approximately 3:14 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky responded to the area of Garrisonville Road and Rock Hill Church Road for a drunk driver complaint. A Park Police Officer was traveling in the area when they observed a vehicle swerve into oncoming traffic multiple times. Out of concern for the safety of other motorists, a traffic stop was conducted on the suspect vehicle.

Deputy Holetzky made contact with the driver, identified as Martin Magallanes, of Stafford. Magallanes had signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming tequila before getting behind the wheel. In the backseat were two children who were not properly buckled in.

Magallanes was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content above.2 with children present, reckless driving, two counts of felony child neglect, transporting a child without a child restraint device, and an expired registration. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
