A 35-year-old Georgia driver who knew he would “never pass” field sobriety tests went from the Holiday Inn to the Rappahannock Regional Inn early Sunday morning. On September 15th at approximately 3:44 a.m. Deputy M.N. Sayegh responded to the Holiday Inn, located at 20 Sanford Drive, for a drunk driver complaint. The caller advised a guest was drunk and just got behind the wheel of an SUV. Luckily, he did not make it far. When Deputy Sayegh arrived, she located the driver asleep in the still running vehicle with a Mike’s Hard Lemonade sitting next to him. While the vehicle was in drive, the only thing preventing it from rolling forward was the driver’s foot on the brake. Deputies were able to wake up the driver, only for him to doze off again. On his second wake up call, he was asked to park and exit the vehicle. The driver, identified as Hassan Naeem, had signs of intoxication and believed he was in Georgia. When the topic of field sobriety tests was brought up, Naeem advised he “would never pass the test.” It was also discovered this was not his first DUI offense, but he had seven previous offenses. Naeem was charged with felony consecutive driving under the influence within 10 years, second offense refusal, as well as, drinking while driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
