A juvenile has been detained after a reported threat and he has been linked to the theft of a Stafford County Sheriff’s Office firearm. On the evening of September 10th deputies were made aware of a threat to commit violence against a Brooke Point High School student. Deputies and detectives worked through the night to identify the suspect and obtain evidence in the case. During the investigation, deputies recognized a firearm on the suspect’s social media which matched a firearm that was stolen from a Sheriff’s Office vehicle last week. The firearm had been in a locked Sheriff’s Office vehicle in a secure gun rack, but the suspect had broken a vehicle window and defeated the gun rack. Deputies coordinated with school staff and had an increased presence at Brooke Point High School today. Just prior to the start of school, the 15-year-old suspect was detained. A subsequent search of the juvenile’s home recovered the stolen Sheriff’s Office firearm. This is an ongoing investigation and additional information will be released when it is available. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Stafford County Public Schools for their assistance in this investigation. Thank you to the witnesses that followed the rule of “see something, say something.” The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring the safety of students and staff at all our schools. We will continue to vigorously investigate all threats to our schools, students, and staff. |
