A Colonial Beach man attempted to blame his drunken driving on other drivers after striking two vehicles late last night. On August 22nd at approximately 9:12 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates responded to the area of Garrisonville Road and Salisbury Drive for an auto accident. It was advised three vehicles were involved. When Deputy Bates arrived on scene he was informed the at fault driver fled on foot. Luckily, witnesses got a good look at the suspect driver before he stumbled off into the night. With their description, Deputy Bates was able to locate the still stumbling suspect near Mine Road. He was detained and during a show up, witnesses confirmed he was the driver. Velasco was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years, driving while revoked, felony hit and run, misdemeanor hit and run, drinking while driving, and following too closely. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond. |
