First Sergeant M.R. Flick had an eventful Sunday catching not one, but two individuals who thought they could out run Stafford deputies.

Part One:

On August 18th at approximately 1:41 a.m. First Sergeant Flick was traveling North on Richmond Highway near Telegraph Road. When he encountered the traffic light, the light changed to red. Considering red means stop, he did just that; however, the motorcyclist next to him elected to take a different path. He would run the red light at a high rate of speed. First Sergeant Flick would activate his emergency equipment in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. The motorcyclist would not pull over, and continued his speeds Northbound.

As the two continued Northbound, First Sergeant Flick would deactivate his emergency equipment, but was able to keep the motorcycle in sight. His ninja tactics would pay off, for the motorcyclist would turn Westbound near Boswell’s Corner and stop at Quantico Marine Corps Visitor Control Center. First Sergeant Flick made contact with the suspect who pretended to not be the driver he was looking for. Unfortunately for him, the stickers on his helmet matched the ones First Sergeant Flick and the camera system of his cruiser observed, negating his lie.

The suspect, identified as Trenton Pearsall, 22, of Stafford, was charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, and failure to obey a traffic light. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.

Part Two:

On August 18th at approximately 9:30 p.m. First Sergeant Flick was traveling Eastbound on Garrisonville Road in the area of Mine Road. While doing so, he observed a sedan illuminated by nothing but the dark of the night. First Sergeant Flick activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop and inform the driver his head and tail lights were off as it turned onto Mine Road. Instead, the driver accelerated, initiating a pursuit.

The vehicle would continue down Mine Road until it stopped in a turn lane at Austin Ridge Drive. As additional deputies were now in the area, the suspect decided the chase must go on and continued onto Austin Ridge Drive, nearly striking another vehicle in the process. When the vehicle got onto Scotland Circle, First Sergeant Flick passed the vehicle and got in front of it. With his path to escape now blocked from the front and rear, the driver stopped and was detained.

The driver, identified as Mustafa Alda, 20, of Stafford, was charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, and driving without headlights at night. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond.
