A wanted 23-year-old from Orange was located with controlled substances feet away from children.

On August 15th at approximately 12:59 a.m. deputies responded to Garrison Woods for a disturbance. Dispatch had received a call from a residence where yelling could be heard in the background before the line disconnected. Checking priors with the residence it was discovered Trevor Sutphin could be involved. Sutphin was wanted for a probation violation, currently trespassed from Garrison Woods, and had two active protective orders involving a resident at the location.

When deputies arrived, a resident informed them Sutphin was in fact currently there. He was hiding in a bedroom with an eight-year-old, a one year old, and suspected fentanyl. Due to this information, deputies worked on a strategic plan to ensure everyone’s safety. An interior drone was flown into the room he was hiding in to confirm his location. Using that, deputies made contact with Sutphin as additional deputies quickly removed the children. Sutphin had signs of recently consuming controlled substances. He was also found in possession of suspected controlled substances.

Sutphin was less than excited to be found by deputies, advising he would “become a problem.” He would have to face his own problems first which included possession of controlled substances, obstruction of justice, trespassing, two counts of violating a protective order, two counts of child endangerment, as well as, served on his outstanding warrant. Sutphin was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
