We hope you have loads of fun reading this release. Deputies were able to iron out multiple shoplifting cases after a 30-year-old Maryland man was found in possession of over 100 Tide detergents.

On August 7th at approximately 4:53 p.m. Sergeant M.L. Jacobeen responded to Lowes, located at 1330 Stafford Market Place, for a larceny in progress. Staff advised a male was pushing a cart full of Tide Pods out of the business. Considering how close he was to the business, Sergeant Jacobeen was able to spin around and wash away any worries that the suspect would get away. Sergeant Jacobeen detained the suspect near the suspect’s vehicle.

While being detained, a female passenger within the vehicle did not want to leave the male suspect out to dry and attempted to assist. She too was detained. Within the still running vehicle, deputies observed a large amount of Tide Pods that would leave even Mr. Clean himself a little unsettled. Staff advised they had information that the same suspect not only stole from this Lowes, but the Lowes in Fredericksburg. The tumbling of previous crimes grew when deputies discovered he also stole Tide Pods from Home Depots in both Stafford and Spotsylvania. A total of 104 stolen Tide products were recovered. For those keeping track, that is over $2,325 worth of stolen items and a lot of laundry.

When confronted with the evidence, the suspect, Toddrick Bowens of Upper Marlboro, folded like last week’s jeans and admitted to stealing “enough to be in handcuffs.” He advised he wanted to sell them outside a laundromat “like selling drugs.” Speaking of drugs, Bowens admitted to having “a little paraphernalia.” Both he and the passenger, Sonia Bonilla Hercules, 19, of Falls Church, were found to be in possession of suspected controlled substances. Due to Bowens’ signs of intoxication, Deputy X.D. Bates conducted a DUI investigation that would result in his list of charges growing like a procrastinator’s laundry bin. This incident was sure to stain both suspects’ records and leave them both feeling a little Downy.

Bowens was charged with two counts of shoplifting, two counts of larceny, possession of stolen goods with intent to sell, driving under the influence, possession of controlled substances, and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $6,500 secured bond. Hercules was charged with possession of controlled substances. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.

Great work to all the deputies involved in this clean case.
