An intoxicated Fredericksburg woman was arrested this weekend after attempted to stab another woman.

On June 22nd at approximately 12:15 a.m. Deputy B.M. Stanfill responded to Declaration Drive for a weapon offense. The victim advised she and a friend were at a residence in Fredericksburg before returning to her own residence on Declaration Drive. When both parties arrived, they discovered Miranda Baardsen, 26, waiting for the victim. A verbal argument broke out which escalated when Baardsen brandished a knife, threatened to kill the victim, and began chasing her around the parking lot. The victim and her friend, who witnessed the incident, were able to retreat to their vehicle and flee the area.

Deputies canvassed the area looking for Baardsen, who was reported to be in a Nissan Rogue. Deputy S. Waheed located the suspect vehicle in the area of Garrisonville Road and Wicomico Drive. When additional deputies arrived, a high-risk stop was conducted and Baardsen was detained. Baardsen had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath and glassy eyes. Open containers of Twisted Tea were located within the vehicle, as well as, a knife that matched the description of the knife used in the attack. Due to unrelated medical needs, Baardsen was transported to a local hospital.

At the hospital, staff advised Baardsen’s blood alcohol content was approximately four times over the legal limit. When Baardsen learned she would be charged for her actions that night, she began screaming, kicking, and throwing a tantrum that disrupted nearly all staff members nearby. Baardsen was charged with attempted malicious wounding, driving under the influence third offense within ten years with a blood alcohol content above .2, and disorderly conduct on hospital grounds. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
