Two is always better than one. Thanks to the quick response of Deputy X.D. Bates two larcenies were solved in one trip.

On April 9th at approximately 5:10 p.m. Deputy Bates responded to the well-known Kohl’s, located at 1220 Stafford Market Place, for another larceny. Staff advised there was a male suspect concealing items into his pretty pink purse. Deputy Bates happened to be close by and caught the suspect as he was finishing his shoplifting spree. Within the purse, Deputy Bates located nearly $200 worth of stolen items, and an object used to remove security tags. The suspect would request to pay for the items instead of getting in trouble. That request was quickly denied and Deputy Bates would soon figure out why the suspect was in such a rush to leave.

While placing the suspect into his vehicle, Deputy Bates was approached by an Old Navy employee. The employee advised the suspect currently in Deputy Bates custody had shoplifted from them moments ago. It was discovered the suspect shoplifted from Old Navy, located at 1250 Stafford Market Place, before taking a short walk to his next target, the Kohl’s. Within the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot, Deputy Bates recovered nearly $135 worth of stolen items.

The suspect was charged with two counts of shoplifting and possession of burglary tools. He was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance.
