A 37-year-old Fredericksburg woman received a felony charge after causing a scene at a South Stafford Wawa. On December 17th at approximately 9:52 p.m. Deputy B.M. Taylor responded to Wawa, located at 9 South Gateway Drive, for a disturbance. Staff advised a female attempted to buy a tobacco product. When an employee requested her identification, she became upset and began screaming at the employee. Other employees attempted to deescalate the situation, but when they were unsuccessful, requested the suspect to leave. Instead, the suspect made threats on their life, assaulted an employee, and sprayed pepper spray on an employee before fleeing the area. Deputy Taylor sent out a picture of the suspect to nearby deputies in order to locate the suspect. Deputy L.T. Ward observed the suspect entering the Excel Inn & Suites, located at 594 Warrenton Road, and made contact with her. Once it was confirmed she was in fact the Wawa sprayer, she was informed she was under arrest. During a search incident to arrest, a used pepper spray container was located. The suspect was charged with felony assault with a caustic agent, and assault and battery. She was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance. There were no serious injuries to the victims. |
