A 62-year-old Stafford man attempted to fraudulently use someone’s credit card, but instead all he received was no bond.

On October 8th at approximately 11:48 a.m. Deputy J.L. Jones and Deputy C.S. Harding responded to a report of a stolen wallet. The victim advised while shopping at TJ Maxx the day prior, her wallet was stolen. With that being said, she received notification from her bank that someone attempted to use one of the stolen credit cards moments ago.

The fraudulent transaction took place at Elite Tobacco, located at 2769 Richmond Highway. Deputy Jones was able to view store cameras of the fraudulent transaction to get a description of the suspect, while Deputy Harding kept an eye out for any possible suspects. Deputy Harding observed a male matching the description of the suspect perfectly heading North on Richmond Highway. Both deputies made contact with the suspect, identified as Joseph Brown Jr. who still had the victim’s credit cards on his person.

Brown was charged with unauthorized use of a credit card and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
