A Spotsylvania man who needed brakes got no break for driving under the influence in Stafford County yesterday.

On August 18th at 8:52 p.m. Deputy K.P. Hall observed a GMC Denali failing to maintain the lane of travel on Richmond Highway. When the driver applied his brakes, sparks would rain down from the wheel well.

A traffic stop was conducted in the 1000 block of Richmond Highway and the driver was identified as a 41-year-old male. He had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was arrested at the conclusion of field sobriety tests.

The driver was charged with DUI, no driver’s license and reckless driving/improper brakes. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over!
