A repeat DUI suspect was jailed yesterday on several serious charges.

On July 18th at 8:22 p.m. deputies responded to the area of Richmond Highway and Hospital Center Boulevard for a possible intoxicated driver headed southbound. A witness reported the driver of a silver Ford pickup was headed speeding, swerving and driving on the shoulder. Detective K.A. Lawrence located the vehicle as it continued southbound near Manning Drive and attempted a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the driver continued to a business at 261 Cambridge Street and parked catawampus in a parking spot.

Deputy M.A. Holub arrived to take over the investigation and identified the driver as Tinita Lee, 33, of Fredericksburg. Deputies noticed Lee had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath and there was an 8-year-old child in the vehicle. A check of Lee’s license status revealed she was suspended.

Lee was instructed to exit the vehicle but refused and seemed more interested in talking on her cell phone. She was subsequently extracted from the vehicle and arrested. Lee was charged with DUI second offense in five years with a child in the vehicle, felony child neglect, obstruction of justice and driving revoked. She was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The child was turned over to a responsible adult.
