We celebrated the retirement of First Sgt. L.E. Barley on Thursday afternoon, but his actual last day on the job is today. We are so fortunate he agreed to work through the weekend, as he located a missing and endangered person last night!

On July 15th at 8:51 p.m. deputies were notified of a missing person in the area of Park Ridge subdivision. Deputies learned a 65-year-old female with early onset dementia was last seen around 4:00 p.m. leaving the home on foot.

Due to storms in the area the K-9, drone and helicopter support were either ineffective or unavailable. The Search and Rescue Team was activated and a social media post was being prepared. Amazingly, before the post could even be made, First Sergeant Barley located the woman walking along the footpath beside Eustace Road.

The woman was uninjured and was quickly reunited with her family. The family was provided information on our Project Lifesaver Program.

Thank you again First Sergeant Barley for your 31 years of dedicated service to Stafford County!
