A 49-year-old Stafford man had to watch the fireworks from his jail cell after attempting to ride his motorcycle while intoxicated.

On July 4th at approximately 5:16 p.m. while many were getting ready to show their American pride, Deputy D.S. Jett and Deputy C.D. Sullivan were responding to White Oak Road for a call of a possible drunk driver. The caller advised there was a male, who appeared intoxicated, driving a motorcycle. The male had knocked over his motorcycle and even lost a shoe.

When deputies arrived, the male was having trouble getting his motorcycle to the side of the road due to his level of intoxication. Deputies helped him remove the motorcycle from the road and noticed quite a few signs of him being under the influence. The driver admitted to consuming roughly 12 beers throughout the day, most recently being approximately 30 minutes ago.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
