A 33-year-old Stafford woman was charged with DUI yesterday after admitting to taking controlled substances prior to crashing her vehicle.

On June 1st at approximately 3:21 p.m. Deputy S.A. Hensley responded to O’Reilly Auto Parts, located at 290 Deacon Road, for an unknown problem. A witness advised he observed a vehicle traveling Eastbound on Deacon Road get into the right turn lane. Instead of slowing down or turning, the vehicle continued and struck the curb at full speed. The vehicle went airborne and through a patch of grass before ending its journey in the O’Reilly Auto Parts parking lot with four flat tires.

When Deputy Hensley arrived on scene, the driver showed signs of being under the influence of narcotics. The driver advised she took narcotics “on the way here from Spotsy” less than an hour ago. During an inventory search of the vehicle, suspected controlled substances were located.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence, as well as, possession of controlled substances. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond.
