If one 19-year-old driver had avoided Coronas like the Coronavirus, he would not have spent the night behind bars.

On April 13th at approximately 11:30 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates and Deputy K.F. Bierfeldt were in the area of Garrisonville Road and Stafford Market Place when they observed a speedy Acura. The vehicle was traveling 60 MPH in a 45 MPH zone before heading towards the entrance ramp to Northbound I-95. The deputy duo followed the vehicle onto I-95 to conduct a traffic stop.

When deputies made contact with the driver, they observed several signs of intoxication including bloodshot eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. This was an issue, not only because he was behind the wheel, but because he was underage. Just like many other DUI cases, the driver advised he consumed only “two beers” while at a party. Deputies also observed the driver was riding with a party gift, a consumed bottle of Corona.

The driver was charged with driving after illegally consuming alcohol, drinking while driving, possession of alcohol by someone under 21, and reckless driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
