The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a bank robbery took place this afternoon Monday, July 06, 2015 at 3:31 pm at the Union 1st Market Bank, 1044 Warrenton Road in Stafford County.

Stafford Deputies responded to a bank robbery call from the Union 1st Market Bank after receiving a call from the bank stating that a subject entered the bank and handed a bank employee a note demanding money. The employee handed the subject an undetermined amount of money. The subject was last seen running through a field directly behind the bank. Multiple units set up a perimeter and saturated the area to include K-9 units. Information gained from witnesses indicated the possibility of two additional suspects. Within 10 minutes of the robbery, Major David Decatur, who was in the area looking for suspects spotted a suspicious person matching the description of one of the suspects walking down Truslow Road. The suspect was taken into custody by Major Decatur and Deputy Catherine Whited.

Deputies, detectives, additional K-9 units and a helicopter from the Maryland State Police continued
to search the area around Truslow Road for the two additional suspects. After a 4 hour search the two additional suspects were spotted by Detective Tim Covington running into the woods in the area of Abel Lake. Sgt. Bill Walker and Deputy Bo Truslow and his K-9 partner Havoc located the two suspects who were taken into custody in a secluded, wooded area near Abel Lake.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize, with appreciation, the assistance of the K-9 unit from Fredericksburg Police Department, the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and the Maryland State Police Helicopter Unit.

The investigation is ongoing. Information about the suspects and their charges will be provided tomorrow morning.
