Daytime single lane closures on secondary road in Stafford County may cause travel delays

FREDERICKSBURG – Daytime paving will begin on Route 606 (Ferry Road) in Stafford County starting June 15, weather permitting.

Work will occur on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The work zone is located between Route 3 Business and Route 218 (White Oak Road). Crews will be paving Ferry Road from the CSX railroad crossing to White Oak Road, a distance of nearly 3 miles.

Paving will be underway for approximately one month.

While work is underway, a single lane will be closed on Ferry Road. Motorists will alternate traveling in a single open lane, as directed by a flagging crew.

Paving is scheduled to occur during daytime hours due to the number of residences located on Ferry Road. To avoid disturbing residents during overnight hours, paving is scheduled to take place during the day.

An average of 9,000 vehicles a day use Ferry Road to travel between Route 3 Business and Colebrook Road, according to a 2014 traffic count. Traffic volumes average 4,500 vehicles a day between Colebrook and White Oak roads.
